Often the “dents” can be removed or made far less noticeable. It depends on the severity of the “dent”, padding thickness & grade, and carpet type.
One trick that works for the at home fix is an Ice cube. Place one standard size ice cube at the “dent” Let it melt slowly. After it has melted vacuum at the “dent“ with a ShopVac and you should see the difference right away.
