Upholstery Cleaning

Your home’s furniture is as vulnerable to spills, dirt, oils and any other contaminants as the flooring in your home. People spend much of their relaxing time on the furniture and the dead skin, oils, and spills cause a build up of stains and grime to form on your furniture. Having your furniture professionally cleaned not only gets it back to its newer appearance but is also much healthier and far better for allergies.

Hot water extraction is the most commonly used cleaning method for most fabrics used in furniture making. This allows for the cleaning to reach deep in the fabric and sanitize while the cleaning is taking place. There are fabrics that are best cleaned with low moisture, and at Blue Ribbon Floor Care we have the experience to know what is best for your home’s many different fabrics. Many homes have different types of fabric within their furniture and each may require a different method.

Often furniture has been cleaned with over-the-counter cleaners, and in most cases, these cleaners leave a “sticky” residue. This residue causes the area to become re-soiled much faster. Our cleaning methods can clean the furniture and remove the residue. If you would like to learn more about our upholstery services, please read our UPHOLSTERY Q & A.

Upholstery Stain Removal

Furniture gets many different types of stains and, combined with the many different types of fabric used for making furniture, makes the combination near endless; removing a stain from one fabric is different from removing from another fabric type. No one chemical does it all. As we have mentioned many times, the worst stain is the one that was not treated immediately or treated with the wrong treatment method and has set the stain in. Blue Ribbon Floor Care technicians are trained professionals and can select the appropriate methods for removing the stains from your fabrics.

Upholstery Cleaning Process

  1. Inspect and determine each type of fabric, note the soiled areas and go over the finding with you. This allows for the customer to know what to expect from the cleaning process and the steps that will be taken to clean the fabric(s).
  2. Apply the cleaning agents and allow the breaking down of the soils, oils and stains. Often the cleaning agent must be agitated to assist it in getting deeper into the contaminates and breaking them down.
  3. Rinse and Extraction of the cleaning agents and all contaminates from within the fabric. In this step we make sure to remove all cleaners and soils to leave no residue to re-soil the fabric later.

All of our upholstery cleaning materials are environmentally friendly.
